Peter LaBarbera, the president of the local anti-gay group Americans for the Truth About Homosexuality ( AFTAH ) , wants controversial right-wing pundit Ann Coulter to reconsider her appearance at HOMOCON 2010, a Sept. 25 event in New York City organized by the gay conservative group GOProud, according to the AFTAH website.

LaBarbera said, “As a fan of Ann Coulter, it pains me to see her cave in to political correctness and lend credibility to the phony homosexual ‘conservatives’ over at GOProud. Worse, Coulter is sending a dangerous message to young Americans that homosexuality is OK.”

Regarding the HOMOCON appearance, Coulter said, “I’m thrilled to be giving a speech to a room full of gay conservatives, because according to every single liberal I’ve ever met, such people don’t even exist! Who’s next on my speaking tour? Conservative unicorns? ( And don’t kid yourself—they’re out there. I get letters from them all the time. ) ,” according to GOProud.org.

Its website also states that “GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy. GOProud promotes our traditional conservative agenda by influencing politics and policy at the federal level.”

A 21-year-old musician has survived a fall from a New York City balcony in which his head became impaled on a spiked metal fence. Police say Nicholas Blossom was intoxicated at a party in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood when he fell from a third-floor balcony at around 4 a.m. Saturday. They say he landed headfirst on the fence of the second-floor balcony of an adjoining building.

Rescuers used an electric saw to detach Blossom from the fence.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

Blossom plays drums in a rock band called Alaska Alaska.

It wasn’t quite man-bites-dog, but there were men and there were dogs and there was biting.

A sheriff’s office said Monday that one man bit another during a fight over a couple of dogs at a park in suburban New York City.

An 11-year-old from Connecticut has the most disgusting shoes in America. Trinette Robinson of Bristol, Conn., was crowned the winner of the 35th annual National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker contest Tuesday in Montpelier, Vt.

Her sneakers were judged the most vile on the basis of their condition and odor. She says she got them dirty by playing hard in Girl Scout Camp and doing community walks for charity.

She was among nine kids ages 6 to 16 competing in the contest. She wins $2,500 and an expenses-paid trip to New York City.

The runner up was 6-year-old Madilyn Taylor of West Jordon, Utah.

Looking at Sharon Stone it’s hard to believe that Basic Instinct came out almost 20 years ago.

The actress was 34 years old when the erotic thriller hit the big screens in 1992, 14 years younger than her co-star Michael Douglas.

Stone, who has just celebrated her 52nd birthday, has been lucky enough to retain her youthful looks, Douglas has definitely aged, albeit gracefully.

The pair were snapped at the 32nd annual New York City Police Foundation Gala at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in Manhattan last night.
The pair, who have remained good friends since Basic Instinct, hosted the event

In a floor-length, strapless black dress with feathered detail from the hips down, Stone could have easily passed for a woman ten years her junior with her soft, dewy skin, firm bust and slender toned arms.

With a hand gripped tightly round his former co-star’s waist, Douglas, 65, still had that steely, sexy look about him, but the grey hair and weathered face was a dead give away that he is a pensionable age.

The New York Post even compared them to looking like ‘a doting daughter taking her father out for a night on the town as opposed to former on-screen lovers having a red carpet reunion’.

But they just looked like old friends, enjoying a night out together to support a good cause.

Basic Instinct tells the story of Detective Nick Curran (Douglas) investigating the death of a former rock star who was murdered with an ice pick, and gets involved with prime suspect, crime novelist Catherine Tramell (Stone).

It caused a stir when it came out and generated controversy for its steamy sex scenes and graphic violence.

It was also slammed by gay rights groups who protested against the film’s alleged stereotypical and homophobic portrayal of homosexuals.

But despite the criticism and controversy surrounding the movie, it became box office smash and remains a cult classic, spawning a sequel, which also starred Stone, but bombed quite badly.

She has recently been staying in New York filmed scenes for upcoming episodes of hit US show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit which will air next month.

Douglas will this year revisit his role as corporate raider Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the sequel to the 1987 box office hit Wall Street, which is due out in September.

Thanks Daily Mail.

A New York funeral director said a minivan outside the business was still carrying a corpse when it was towed for being parked illegally.

Paul DeNigris said he was shocked when he walked out of Redden’s Funeral Home early Monday afternoon and discovered the minivan holding a body bound for a flight at New Jersey’s Newark Airport was gone, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

DeNigris said he quickly learned the vehicle had been towed and taken to a city tow pound. Police said the vehicle had been ticketed for parking in an illegal zone at 9:22 a.m. and was towed at 12:07 p.m.

“There was nothing to indicate it was more than just an illegally parked car,” Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said.

DeNigris said the van and body were back in his care about 90 minutes after the towing.

He said the tow pound waived a $185 fee and he plans to fight the $115 parking ticket.

“It’s frustrating,” DeNigris said. “It’s aggravating. But this is New York City. Things like this are not uncommon.”

It sounds fishy but a New York City pet shop owner says it’s true. Buttkiss, the black pacu he owns, is 43 and weighs 20 pounds. A pacu is a breed that’s related to the piranha. Steve Gruebel owns Cameo Pet Shop in Queens. He got Buttkiss in 1967 when he was just a wee thing. He sold him a year later when Buttkiss was two inches long. But in 1970, Buttkiss was returned when he outgrew the buyer’s tank.

Buttkiss lives in only a four-foot-long, 75-gallon tank. Gruebel said he’s afraid to move him because he may not survive the changing environment.

Buttkiss is beginning to show his age. He has arthritic gills and glaucoma in his right eye.

Thanks My Way.

Thirty-five wild chickens were rounded up in a New York City neighborhood and taken to an upstate sanctuary, volunteers say.

The New York Daily News said Sunday some of the chickens were hiding under parked cars before they were picked up at the K&N Parking Lot.

Volunteers from the Farm Sanctuary, an animal-protection organization, used bird feed, crates and nets in rounding up the chickens.

“Volunteers were simply rounding up chickens that have been living on a city block in the Bronx to take them to a sanctuary in the country, said Meredith Turner, who works for the Farm Sactuary.

“It’s between serious strategy and luck,” volunteer Kim Korona said afterward.

The Daily News said the parking lot manager, Ramon Lopez, had been raising chickens for more than two decades but was forced to send the birds away because of a city fine and the increasing cost of housing the birds.

This sounds fair. Rap star Lil Wayne has gotten a temporary reprieve from jail—for dental surgery.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper’s sentencing in a New York City gun case was postponed Tuesday, because he needs to finish a string of recent surgeries before he goes to jail.

Lil Wayne, one of music’s biggest sellers and rap’s hottest stars, is poised to spend as much as a year in jail under a plea deal, though good behavior could shave that to as little as eight months.

Sentencing now is scheduled for March 2. Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon said it wouldn’t be put off any further.

The diminutive, deadlocked rapper said nothing at a brief court session Tuesday afternoon. He left in a black SUV, flanked by fellow rapper Birdman and others.

His lawyer, Stacey Richman, said the rapper was headed home to Miami for dental work Friday. She declined to specify his malady.

“It is a medical situation that, like (it would for) any of us, has to be addressed,” she said outside court. She said the rapper had planned to take care of it before Tuesday, but his dentist had been out of the country doing charitable work.

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Joan Illuzzi-Orbon didn’t fight the rapper’s request to push back his sentencing, saying she had spoken to the dentist.

Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to a charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he illegally had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in July 2007. Police found the weapon when they stopped the bus after a Manhattan concert.

Last week, Lil Wayne reinforced his place in rap’s pantheon with a commanding performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony. His latest album, “Rebirth,” was released Feb. 2.

Meanwhile, he is preparing himself for jail, his lawyer said.

“He’s a strong man,” she said.

Thanks Breitbart.

A New York City teacher is accused of turning his fourth-grade classroom into a fighting ring.

Queens prosecutors say Joseph Gullotta told two of his students, ages 9 and 10, to settle an argument with a classroom fight.

One ended up with a cut lip, and the other with a bruised head.

Authorities say that when Gullotta finally sent the boys to the school nurse, he told them to lie and say they got hurt by bumping into each other.

He and a teacher’s aide who allegedly witnessed the incident are charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Gullotta has been reassigned.

The name of his attorney was not immediately on record.

Thanks Az Central.
