AH! Sharon Stone Day. Sharon Stone may have offended her silver screen sister Meryl Streep after a comment which seemed good-natured enough to start, but soon developed into something a little less complimentary.

The Basic Instinct star decided to explain to Tatler in less-than-certain terms exactly why she admired her, stating that Meryl was getting a lot of work because she looks like a woman that people can easily relate to.

She explained: “I look at her and I think, ”I”m chasing my kids, I”ve moved my parents in with me, I”m coping with food spills – that looks like me in real life”.

“Meryl looks like an unmade bed, and that”s what I look like. To me, that looks true.”

Sharon Stone went on to say that her looks are maintained not through botox and plastic surgery, but through other more natural means, such as going to the gym and keeping a good family life at home.

Meryl Streep has won dozens of awards for her roles in The Deer Hunter, Kramer vs Kramer, Adaptation and The Devil Wears Prada, while she is tipped to win another Oscar with her performance in Julie & Julia.
